A 34-year-old Port Orchard man was arrested after an undercover investigation into alleged child exploitation and attempted child sex trafficking, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The Washington State Patrol Missing and Exploited Children Task Force said Michael A. Rees was arrested June 25 after investigators said he arranged to meet who he believed was the mother of a juvenile girl at a Tacoma hotel to have sex with the child. Investigators said the case began in May, when Rees allegedly engaged in online conversations with undercover detectives.
During those conversations, authorities said Rees expressed a desire to meet with a mother and her juvenile daughter for the purpose of impregnating the child. In exchange, investigators said, he agreed to pay the mother $1,000. When Rees arrived at the Tacoma hotel on June 25, he was arrested by task force detectives and FBI special agents, according to the Washington State Patrol.
