: An explosion erupted at a Texas Petroleum Chemical plant in the early hours of Wednesday morning, injuring three people, with the impact blowing out the windows and doors of homes nearby.that the explosion took place at about 1 am on Wednesday at the TPC group Port Neches facility which is located around 100 miles west of Houston.
Three people are being treated for injuries, TPC said. One suffered a broken arm and another sustained burns, while another employee was treated in hospital and later released, according to theEveryone has been evacuated from the site and accounted for, while search-and-rescue teams are going from door-to-door checking on the welfare of local residents.that there was a mandatory evacuation order for homes and business within a half mile zone of the plant.
TPC said in a statement: “The event is ongoing, but will be brought under control as quickly and safely as possible. Right now our focus is on protecting the safety of responders and the public, and minimizing any impact to the environment.” Videos posted to social media show flames rising from the plant, illuminating the sky in shades of orange.
Residents within range of the explosion’s effects told local news that the blast shook the city. “I heard and felt my house shake,” Tyler Shawn Dunlap, who was woken up by the explosion, told KFDM/KBTV.: TPC, which produces products for chemical and petroleum companies, employs 175 people, with 50 workers on site.: Texas is a major hub for the chemical and petroleum industry but there have been several high profile safety incidents in recent years.
