As we continue to track Beryl , Texas Gulf Coast cities have all hands on deck to prepare.As of Sunday evening Port Lavaca is still expecting a four to six-foot storm surge as they’re expecting four to eight inches of rain.Sunday morning people were still preparing to brace their homes and businesses from Beryl .“I’ve been through them before, through, well, I’ve been all the way through Carla when i was a kid,” Hooper said.

Anywhere you look in the Texas Gulf Coast city of Port Lavaca you will see boarded up windows and businesses closing early. “We have voluntary evacuation orders out. We really recommend that people that are elderly or sickly find a place they can evacuate to,” Port Lavaca Mayor Jack Whitlow said. Some of you have asked about the decisions people make to stay in towns continually rocked by storm systems.“It's a good place to live. So, like I said, from time to time, we face the storms or things of that sort. But it's not every day,” Jolly said.
