Does the Taycan spark excitement for more sporty Porsche EVs?
We already know Porsche has had to slow down some of its EV development, reportedly over issues nailing down the new software also in development. To counter any negative perception, Porsche announced a full lineup of electric vehicles slated to be introduced by 2030 at its annual press conference this morning, including all-electric 718 sports cars and a new range-topping flagship SUV.confirmed the Macan's new planned introduction date of 2024, when deliveries are slated to finally begin.
Then, once all of those new models are out of the way, Porsche will likely introduce its new D-segment flagship SUV above the Cayenne, which it has yet to detail or name beyond previously mention it could get the Mission R concept's high performance battery and fast-charging tech. Blume promises this new SUV will have a recognizable Porsche"flyline," so it might adopt more of the Cayenne Coupe's aggressive styling points.
Blume didn't announce a specific year to expect the new SUV, but it will likely be 2026 or later given the crowded slate of product introductions planned for the next few years. It's been separately rumored that many high-performance Porsche trims will remain available as ICE models for at least a few more years, so if you aren't a fan of the EV stuff yet, you still have time to adapt. If anyone can get performance EVs right, it should be Porsche. We'll see.
