Pornhub and affiliated adult content websites shut down access to Texas users Thursday over a new state law that requires a government-issued ID for age...
Attorney General Ken Paxton sued Pornhub’s parent company, saying it failed to comply with a new Texas law requiring users to input ID for access.
Texas internet addresses that access Pornhub and several affiliated sites were directed to a message stating that a recently enacted law requiring users to verify their age using a government-issued ID violates the First Amendment.“Until the real solution is offered, we have made the difficult decision to completely disable access to our website in Texas,” the Pornhub message states.
The law requires adult-content websites to verify that users are at least 18 years old by entering a government ID or a suitable alternative identification. “This is not the end. We are reviewing options and consulting with our legal team,” Aylo’s Alex Kekesi, vice president of brand and community, said via email.
