Population Map Reveals America's Fastest Growing Cities

Eight of the 15 fastest-growing cities in 2023 were in Texas, according to the latest U.S. Census Bureau data.

Cities in the South continued to report the largest population growth in the entire country last year, according to the latest data from the U.S. Census Bureau, with Texas alone accounting for eight of the 15 fastest-growing cities in the region.The fastest-growing city among the ones with a population of 20,000 or more was Celina, Texas, whose population grew by 26.6 percent in 2023—more than 53 times the growth rate of the country, 0.5 percent.

Lucie, Florida ; Atlanta, Georgia ; Houston, Texas ; Georgetown, Texas ; Celina, Texas ; Raleigh, North Carolina ; Fulshear, Texas ; Washington, D.C. ; Denton, Texas ; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma ; and Cape Coral, Florida .'The population growth across the South in 2023 was driven by significant numeric and percentage gains among its cities,' Crystal Delbé, a statistician in the Census Bureau's Population Division, said in a statement.
