Popular Montrose Japanese restaurant Shun closes ahead of plans to open ambitious omakase spot
The Yoshidas haven’t shared an exact date, but they won’t be gone for long: they plan to open an omakase-style restaurant next year.
The Yoshidas opened Shun at 2802 S. Shepherd in the fall of 2018, but they were not new to the local dining scene. Yoshida went on to introduce his customers to more modern Japanese dishes at Shun that weren’t always easy to find in Houston. Airy Japanese-style souffle pancakes, a trendy dish a few years ago, showed up on Shun’s menu as well as dumplings filled with meats like brisket and carnitas.
