A popular festival has announced that they will be holding a special event to mark Glasgow Film Theatre turning 50..

With the Glasgow Film Festival hosting its 20th edition of the festival, plans are underway to mark the 85th anniversary of the Cosmo cinema, which opened in 1939 and in 1974 became Glasgow Film Theatre , making next year its 50th birthday.

And to mark the occasion the Glasgow Film Theatre will present three of their immersive special events featuring films drawn from each of those years.The charity also announced a special preview of Girl, taking place on Friday 17 November at the Glasgow Film Theatre ahead of its general release. Allison Gardner, CEO of Glasgow Film and Director of GFF, said: “We are very excited to be announcing our plans to mark an important year for Glasgow Film during GFF 2024. Glasgow Film Festival’s special events have always been very popular with film fans and these classic screenings are set to be another memorable festival moment.”
