NEW: Pope Francis calls laws criminalizing homosexuality 'unjust'
The pope's remarks represent a further break from the longstanding position of the Roman Catholic Church that maintains same-sex relationships are contrary to natural law, building on his comments made in a 2020 documentary expressing"Being homosexual is not a crime ... but it's a sin," the pope told AP.
"Fine, but first let’s distinguish between a sin and a crime. It’s also a sin to lack charity with one another.
