Pomegranate, an upcoming comedy-drama exploring cultural clashes between two young women living across from each other, is set to premiere on March 4, 2025. This release date coincides with both Women's History Month and International Women's Day. Freestyle Digital Media has secured the VOD rights for the film, making it available for rent or purchase on various digital platforms, cable, satellite, and DVD. The story unfolds in 2016 during the U.S.
presidential election season, focusing on Niran, a politically liberal Iraqi Muslim refugee navigating life in a predominantly conservative Chaldean (Iraqi Christian) neighborhood in Detroit. Niran, a 20-year-old aspiring student, clashes with her conservative Christian neighbor, Mary, whose front yard displays a statue of the Virgin Mary alongside a 'Make America Great Again' sign. Niran grapples with her identity, balancing her family's concerns about deprivation and loyalty to Muslim traditions while aspiring to study, work, and love freely. Inspired by Enheduanna, the first recorded writer in history and a priestess of Ancient Mesopotamia, Niran fights against cultural stereotypes and seeks to make her voice heard. The film explores the complexities of identity, cultural differences, and the pursuit of dreams in a challenging environment. Written and directed by Weam Namou, Pomegranate boasts an impressive cast including Sam Rahmani, Zain Shami, Ismail Taher, Natally Boutrus, Lamar Babi, Basim Alameen, Amanda Kashat, and Jordyn Kashat. Produced by Sam Sako with Scott Rosenfelt as executive producer, Pomegranate promises a compelling narrative that resonates with audiences
