Texas is tightening rules on hemp products starting today. Now, consumable hemp products can only be sold if they come from legal hemp and have been lab-tested to show 0.3% Delta-9 THC or less. Businesses must also provide those test results to the state if requested.
The ban does not apply to consumable products like gummies and beverages. But it bans most smokable hemp products. The rules also require labeling and testing requirements. Sales are limited to customers 21 and older with a valid ID. Licensing fees are also increasing from $155 to $5,000 per location each year. Supporters say the new regulations are a necessary step to protect children and consumers from hemp products with high amounts of THC. But business owners say the changes could have a major impact on the industry operationally and financially.BULVERDE, Texas - Hill College Prep High School has been put on lockdown.Principal Julie Wiley said in the alert that local law enforcement is on campus.
