Chula Vista residents narrowly prefer City Councilmember John McCann for mayor over his opponent, Ammar Campa-Najjar, but more than 30 percent remain undecided, according to a poll released Tuesday.
McCann is viewed slightly more favorably than Campa-Najjar, 27 percent over 25 percent, the poll showed. For months, the candidates have campaigned on their priorities for San Diego County’s second-largest city and how they would address them if elected. Respondents have their own thoughts on the issues they feel the new mayor should prioritize.
Poll results show the measure lacking support, with 37 percent opposed, 32 percent in favor and 31 percent unsure. Those who said they have already voted approved the measure by a two percentage-point margin, 45 percent to 43 percent. For those who said they were certain to vote, opposition outpaced support by 45 percent to 35 percent.
