The White House announced that the president would make remarks imminently after he has been criticized for not publicly addressing in the crisis in recent days.
Trump’s favorability dropped by 6 points among Republicans and 7 points among independents, while it dropped by 10 points in both Republican and battleground states. The poll also found Trump losing significant ground among the religious groups that comprise his core base, including white evangelical Protestants, white mainline Protestants and white Catholics, with whom his favorability dropped by double digits.
