Donald Trump remarked on Republicans’ newfound animus for LGBTQ issues—notably transgender rights—, when he observed that his audience was less enthusiastic about tax cuts than they were about his attacks on trans rights.

Men and older Americans were also considerably more likely to describe same-sex relationships as immoral. 40 percent of men, as opposed to 28 percent of women, told Gallup they opposed same-sex relationships, as did 43 percent of respondents older than 55.
