A new survey shows President Donald Trump leading his Democratic challenger Joe Biden in Kentucky, though by a much smaller margin than his victory over Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Mason-Dixon, which has polled Kentucky races for over 30 years, was remarkably accurate in its survey of the state weeks before the 2019 race for governor, finding former Gov. Matt Bevin and current Gov. Andy BeshearBeshear would go on to win the race for governor by a fraction of a percent, with 5,146 more votes than Bevin.
Nearly 90% of Republican respondents to the poll indicated they would vote for Trump — well above the 67% of Democrats supporting Biden — while Independents favored the president 50% to 39%. The poll shows Trump faring worse against Biden in each of the five Kentucky regions compared to his 2016 showing, with the most pronounced difference in Eastern Kentucky, where his 38 percentage point lead over Biden is less than his remarkable 60 percentage point blowout over Clinton in that region.
