Donald Trump’s April 4 arrest on criminal charges is not likely to be impacted by a failed 2018 defamation case that Stormy Daniels brought against the then-president and a recent financial order that Daniels pay some of his legal fees.

In 2018, adult film actor Stormy Daniels brought a defamation lawsuit against then-President Donald Trump over statements he tweeted about her. A judge dismissed it that year and ordered Daniels to pay Trump’s legal fees.
After numerous appeals, Daniels was ordered April 4 to pay an additional $121,972 for Trump’s legal expenses, on top of the more than $500,000 that she was already ordered to pay. The decision came the same day Trump was arraigned in New York on felony charges he falsified business records in connection with a hush money payment he made to Daniels in 2016.
