Former president Donald Trump now has been charged 40 times in a federal indictment by a grand jury over his handling of classified documents, court documents show.detailed 37 charges against Trump and six charges against his aide, Walt Nauta. A superseding indictment with three additional charges for Trump and two for Nauta was released July 27. The superseding indictment also includes a new co-defendant, Mar-a-Lago property manager Carlos De Oliveira, who faces four charges.
Prosecutors allege in the new indictment that Trump asked De Oliveira to delete Mar-a-Lago security footage in an attempt to conceal it from the FBI and the grand jury. They also added another count against Trump for willful retention of national defense information.
