This week on POLOTIKI, the national elections have come and gone, and some may say the country is suffering from elections fatigue. But it's not over yet. The ANC has released its list of premier candidates and President Cyril Ramaphosa is still tasked with the selection of a Cabinet.

The ANC held a special national executive committee meeting earlier this week, where Ramaphosa urged party leaders to speak in one voice. That same meeting also produced a list of who the party will be appointing premier in seven of the eight provinces where it won majority votes, while the troubled North West was left outstanding.

News24 political journalist Lizeka Tandwa and News24 news editor Sheldon Morais talk about the divisions in the North West and the plea for a female premier. The sixth Parliament will rise next week after Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng was handed the list of 400 elected MPs and 430 elected MPLs, drawn from national, provincial and regional candidates lists which political parties submitted.Cosatu wants the Cabinet to consist of 26 ministers and a maximum of six deputies, and for it to exclude anyone implicated in graft. But we wait and see.
