Rishi Sunak kicked off his statement by saying the government would never stop trying to help people and that they'll do what they did in the COVID pandemic. That could be seen as a direct reference to the conflict between Number 10 and the Treasury - where it has been widely reported that Number 10 said a windfall tax was ideologically un-Conservative.
"To help the six million people who receive non-means tested disability benefits, we will send them, from September, an extra one off disability cost of living payment worth £150." Rishi Sunak said"we have three specific tools available to combat and reduce inflation" and"we are using them all"."First, our primary tool is a strong independent monetary policy. Since control of monetary policy was taken out of the hands of politicians 25 years ago, inflation has averaged precisely 2%.
