MPs are preparing to return to Westminster from their summer break with questions over the economy and the upcoming general election looming large. To discuss all of that, Jeremy Hunt, the chancellor, is the first guest on our new show - Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips.

He says the UK"has been the most successful at growing back after the pandemic" which was"because Rishi Sunak as chancellor took decisions like the furlough scheme, like the bounced back loans, which were more generous in other countries".

Challenged on the fact that ministers were told about the issue more than a decade ago, but then cancelled some of the schools buildings programme and failed to act in 2018 after the collapse of a school, he says:"I think that is just wrong."
