In late May, the government was obliged to make decisions about how the lockdown would be released. At the time, Lord Mark Sedwill engaged in a conversation with Cabinet Secretary Simon Case on WhatsApp.
A message is shown to the inquiry, in which Mr Case praises Lord Sedwill's decision not to include chief scientific officer Patrick Vallance and chief medical officer Chris Whitty in a conversation about restrictions being lifted.
