The political world was rattled Wednesday after President-elect Donald Trump announced the nomination of Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., to be his attorney general.
Trump lauded Rep. Gaetz in a social media post as someone who will champion reform within the Department of Justice. Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., who recently won a seat in the Senate, called on his new chamber to reject the appointment. Replying to the post was Elon Musk, who Trump picked to lead the newly created Department of Government Efficiency alongside former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.Rep. John Duarte, R-Calif., told Punchbowl News reporter Mica Soellner he preferred other candidates for the position.
