Harrisburg event will feature a keynote address by Paul Butler, former federal prosecutor and author of the 2017 book 'Chokehold: Policing Black Men.' Public participation is also invited.
Paul Butler, one of the nation’s acclaimed authors and experts on race and criminal justice, will keynote a “Summit on Policing" at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 10 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Cathedral in Harrisburg.A noted commentator on the high-tension intersection of race and the American criminal justice system is headlining a public forum on policing Wednesday in Harrisburg.
At that time, Butler said, he often worked to jail other people of color, and he quickly concluded the system he operated in was undermined by racial biases. “We thought that this would be a good conversation to have in our community to begin looking at what’s happening, learning from the experiences of people, and then beginning some conversations about what can we do to address issues that have arisen,” Pickens said.
