Police responded to reports of a man with a gun bag
A Northamptonshire Police officer had said he believed he was going to die when he was attacked by a suspect in the street. Sgt Dave Cayton was called to the Swansgate car park area of Wellingborough after police received reports of a man with a gun bag on June 28 last year.
Hallam will be sentenced at a later date and Sgt Hallam, who was left with multiple injuries for his face, has now said the attack has left him with memories "that will never leave me."Sgt Cayton, who was at Wellingborough Police Station at the time, said: “I was struggling to breathe because of the pressure on my chest and felt I was never going to escape. What happened on that day are events that will never leave me. I genuinely believed I would die.
“None of them come to work to be assaulted and this was an utterly horrifying attack on a dedicated and hardworking sergeant who has shown an incredible sense of duty during his entire career with Northamptonshire Police.
