Scott Smith, from Holytown, Lanarkshire, told how a man who was known to him had barricaded himself in a loft and was making threats to police officers.
A police watchdog is probing claims a top cop asked a man who had intervened in a siege to hide a shotgun. Scott Smith told how a man who was known to him had barricaded himself in a loft and was making threats to police officers.
Several police units were called to the incident in Lanarkshire after a member of the public raised the alarm. Scott raced to the property after hearing of the incident. He claims he was asked by police to tell officers taking his statement that he found it under a cover and was also asked if he could “get rid of it”. Scott said: “I was shocked. My legs were still numb from the whole situation.
“The police thought there were no guns in there and when they discovered there was, I think they tried to cover it up and hide it.” He added: “When I saw the gun, I did what I could to make sure everybody came out of that house alive.
