Police in Rhode Island said a Ferrari that was reported stolen during a home invasion was later recovered in Florida.
Authorities also said the second suspect was in custody in Rhode Island .the home invasion was reported early Saturday morning. Police said the residents reported that two men wearing masks came in through an unlocked door and demanded the keys to a Ferrari and a Corvette.“It was clear that the suspects had intimate knowledge about the residence and the vehicles they were seeking,” police said in a news release. "The keys were turned over, and the suspects left in the Ferrari .
Police obtained arrest warrants for Jonathan Costa, 20, of Cranston, and Logan Slezak, 18, of Pawtucket, for breaking and entering with felony intent, using a firearm while committing a crime of violence, and conspiracy. Authorities said one of their license plate readers located the blue 2018 Ferrari 488 Spider the next day, but officers were unable to find the car. They said a state trooper saw the Ferrari on Monday night and tried to stop it.
Police said the driver led troopers and officers on a high-speed pursuit in Rhode Island and Connecticut but got away. New York state troopers also pursued the car, but again the driver got away. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that it spotted the car in Florida and pursued it. Aided by an air unit, they tracked the Ferrari to a home in Palm Coast.“Sheriffs surrounded the residence and were able to take Jonathan Costa into custody immediately,” Cranston police said.
