A man working at Rose Market in Benicia on Tuesday night was shot and killed during a suspected robbery, the Benicia Police DepartmentThe police department said it responded to an alarm call on the 2000 block of Columbus Parkway just after 10 p.m. and found a man who was working at the convenience store unresponsive and with an apparent gunshot wound.“We are deeply saddened by this senseless violence that happened in our community,” police Chief Mike Greene said in the statement.
The alleged shooter left the scene before officers arrived, police said. A preliminary investigation indicated the person was likely robbing the store, police said.
