Police still trying to ID female bicyclist fatally struck over the weekend in Harrisburg

Lt. Kyle Gautsch said the woman, who appears to be in her 30s and Hispanic, hit a car that was making a U-turn around 9:30 or 9:45 p.m. at the Market and Cameron intersection.

The car was going west on Market Street when the bicyclist, also traveling west, struck the driver’s side and went under the vehicle, police said.The crash is still under investigation, and Gautsch said investigators have not yet determined who was at fault. Gautsch said police are having trouble identifying the female bicyclist because she did not have many personal belongings with her at the time of the crash.The area where this incident occurred is near the busy Cameron and Market street where a popular convenience store sits on the north side of Market and a covered bus stop on the south side that attracts pedestrians and bicyclists.

Harrisburg spokesman Matt Maisel said no discussion has been had about making traffic changes to the intersection, because of the ongoing investigation into the latest crash. Maisel said any proposed changes would need to get PennDOT approval, since Cameron Street is a state road.on South Cameron Street at Market Street and died from his injuries.

Floyd Kelly, suffered fatal injuries after being struck by a vehicle while walking in the 1200 block of Market Street,Anyone with information on this weekend’s crash or the bicyclist’s identity is asked to call Harrisburg police at 717-558-6900.
