Protests over Philadelphia police fatally shooting a Black man holding a knife turned violent in New York City Tuesday night, leading to 27 arrests and five New York Police Departments officers being injured, police officials said.
The demonstrations, which took place in Brooklyn, represented the most significant unrest in the city in weeks, following a summer that saw tens of thousands of protesters taking part in hundreds of mostly peaceful rallies against police brutality and racism.
