An officer-involved shooting that happened on the night of Dec. 2 has sent a man to the hospital, according to Phoenix Police.
A police shooting that happened during the late night hours of Dec. 2 in north Phoenix sent a man to the hospital.According to police, the incident happened near 21st Street and Union Hills Drive. Officers responded to a domestic violence call, and when they arrived at the scene at around 11:00 p.
m., they were met by two people. They told officers that a man they knew was inside, and he was armed with a pair of knives.Police say when officers went into the home, they confronted the suspect, who was holding the weapons and refused to drop them. That's when officers opened fire."After the shooting, our officers were able to move up and give the man commands to comply and give his hands. The man did not comply. Less lethal tool was used. At that point, the officers were able to secure his hands," said Sgt. Phil Krynsky with the Phoenix Police Department.The suspect's injuries were described as non-life-threatening, and we were told that he has already been released from the hospital. Police say no one else was jury in the incident, and an investigation remains ongoing.
