Sky News host Rita Panahi has criticised police in Leeds for terrifying an autistic 16-year-old girl whose only crime was to point out a “police officer resembled her lesbian nan”.

“A girl who was so distressed through this ordeal she was hiding in a cupboard and at one point she began hitting herself in the head as her mother desperately tries to intervene to stop these heartless, brainless police officers from arresting her child,”

Ms Panahi said. “They needed seven officers to drag a terrified autistic child from her house to serve her with a ‘homophobic public order offence’. “It is a sign of a broken police force when the criminals have no fear of the cops, but ordinary people do.”
