APD seeks public's help IDing suspect in child abduction, sexual assault case.
The Austin Police Department is seeking the public's help in identifying a suspect accused of abducting a child from the St. John's neighborhood and sexually assaulting them at an unknown motel.
The Austin Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with the abduction and sexual assault of a child last year. According police, the suspect abducted the child from the St. John's neighborhood between Duval Street and I-35 around 6 a.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. The suspect then took the child to an unknown motel, described as a two-story yellow building with exterior stairs and surrounded by trees, where the sexual assault occurred.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his late 30s or possibly older who goes by the name "Alex." He has tattoos on his chest and arms, speaks Spanish and was last seen wearing an orange and blue "Looney Tunes" tank top. The suspect is believed to drive a dark-colored pickup truck. Anyone with information is asked to contact the APD Human Trafficking Unit at 512-974-4786 or [email protected]. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest in the case.
