North West Education MEC Viola Motsumi says dangerous weapons found at different schools in the province are concerning.Police carried out a search and seizure operation as part of their collaboration with the Department of Education.
The search uncovered knives, so called “space muffins,” marijuana, cigarettes and an old police belt. The school has recently experienced a rise in violent incidents. MEC Motsumi says, “From our search and seizure we discovered knives, marijuana and other dangerous weapons from our learners and we realise that the very same culprits are the very same who were stabbed two weeks ago. They claim that the reason why they are having those dangerous weapons is they want to defend themselves and fight back from those who stabbed them two weeks ago.
