A 16-year-old girl was shot and killed in the New Town area according to police.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has been working on this investigation since just after 11 a.m. on Friday.Within the last hour, crime scene investigators made their way into a home where the shooting is believed to have taken place. They were waiting on search warrants to get inside that home on West 2nd Street.
What JSO does know is that several people were inside the home when a 16-year-old was shot. Police said that the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to the residence to provide life-saving measures but the teen girl was pronounced dead.JSO released information that four people have been detained and they have been transported downtown to be interviewed.
