The first BrownUAlert said a shooter was reported near the Barus & Holley Engineering building and directed students to shelter in place.A follow-up alert clarified that no suspect is in custody, and told students to avoid the Barus & Holley area. Another alert warned of a report of shots fired near Governor Street, telling students to continue to shelter and that law enforcement is responding. The alerts directed students to "Lock doors, silence phones and stay stay hidden until further notice. Remember: RUN, if you are in the affected location, evacuate safely if you can; HIDE, if evacuation is not possible, take cover; FIGHT, as a last resort, take action to protect yourself. Stay tuned for further safety information." Emergency medical services are also on the scene. Officials did not immediately say whether anyone was injured.This is a developing story.
