Police ramp up powers in Oldham after 'groups fighting in the street'
Police have ramped up their powers in an area of Oldham after groups were reportedly seen 'fighting in the street' and 'causing damage to vehicles' on Sunday .
Greater Manchester Police have introduced the section 60 powers that allow officers to stop and search individuals within the area as part of their enquiries into the violent brawl.Two people have since been arrested on suspicion of possessing offensive weapons, with increased 'highly visible' patrols to continue into the early hours of Tuesday .
Inspector Anthony Allt, from GMP’s Oldham Division, said: “We believe that this section 60 order is appropriate and necessary to reassure those in the Derker community and to keep people safe.
