'We are exploring every possible avenue to ensure all these incidents are investigated comprehensively and no stone is left unturned.'
Police patrols in south Manchester and Trafford will be high profile for several days in a bid to diffuse gangland violence believed to be behind a stabbing and shooting. The move comes after a 19-year-old man was stabbed in the back at the Love Factory venue in Manchester city centre on Saturday.
Today GMP named a suspect wanted in connection with the Love Factory stabbing. In a statement they said: "Police are appealing for the public’s help to trace Ethan Chisnall, 22, who is wanted in connection with a section 18 assault in Manchester on Saturday 2 September 2023. Ethan is known to have links to Trafford, Partington and Manchester.
GMP says this is part of a response to "a number of incidents of serious violence" which is being co-ordinated under Operation Tahara. Officers have been deployed to the area and will be talking to members of the community, conducing stop searches where appropriate, seizing illegal objects, and arresting those who choose to break the law. Officers on horses will be used in the operation.
“At present it is not clear what the motive for the attack on Saturday night was or if it is linked to previous incidents in the Manchester and Trafford areas, however we are exploring every possible avenue to ensure all these incidents are investigated comprehensively and no stone is left unturned.
