Photo provided by Pennsylvania State PolicePennsylvania State Police are investigating after a 20-year-old woman was killed last week after the vehicle in which she was riding crashed into a tree.
Police were dispatched at 9:12 p.m. to a single-vehicle crash with entrapment in the area of the Susquehanna Trail South and Seaks Run Road. At the scene, police found McEvoy, the front-seat passenger of a blue Chevrolet Tracker that crashed into a tree, police said. Police said a person who was in the backseat suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown, The Chevrolet Tracker was driving south on Susquehanna Trail South before the crash happened. Police said another vehicle was driving north on Susquehanna Trail South when it merged into the southbound lane and started to pass another vehicle. Police said the Tracker swerved off the road and hit a tree to avoid a head-on collision with the northbound passing vehicle. The Tracker hit the tree on its passenger side while the northbound vehicle continued driving north, police said. Police are trying to identify two vehicles and their drivers who saw the crash. One was the vehicle that was passed in the northbound lane right before the crash. The suspect vehicle is not believed to be a white SUV, pictured above, which police said left the scene before troopers could speak with its driver. Police are asking anyone to come forward who saw a vehicle “driving aggressively” on Jan. 17 between 8:30 and 9:12 p.m. on Susquehanna Trail South in Springfield and Shrewsbury Township.
