Police say they have not yet found any "identifiable human remains" as they continue to dig on moorland where a human skull is said to have been discovered by an amateur detective investigating the murder of Keith Bennett.
Yesterday , in what appears to be a huge breakthrough in the case, police erected two blue forensic tents on a piece of land on Saddleworth Moor. It came after reports of a skull matching Keith's description being found at the site. The search has continued on the moorland today, and Greater Manchester Police have now released an update. Force Review Officer Cheryl Hughes said specialist officers had started digging at the site after being handed information, including photographs.
"This information included photographs of the site and show what experts working with the informant have interpreted as a human jaw bone. No physical evidence of a jaw bone or skull has been examined.
