They received a call about the crash just before 5:30 a.m. Thursday and found damage to the guardrail of the SE Loop 410 access road near S. Presa Street. Then they noticed the truck below, laying on its roof on the railroad tracks beneath that elevated road. When officers reached the overturned vehicle, they discovered that the man inside it was dead.
Based on the damage at the scene, it appears the pickup broke through the guardrail before tumbling and hitting the embankment at least once on its way down.Police spent hours investigating the crash scene from both above and below the highway. Members of SAPD’s Traffic Investigations Division spent quite a while collecting evidence at the scene.A train could be seen sitting on the tracks about a half mile down the road. They say it will be up to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office to identify him.Katrina Webber joined KSAT 12 in December 2009.
