Police were called to a home in Togo Place in the southern suburb of Gordon around 7:30am after reports of a disturbance.Detective Acting Superintendent Stephen Ladd said police then located and arrested the woman's 86-year-old husband, Manfred Uhle, at a house in Fadden. Mr Uhle is currently being treated for a possible "cardiac episode" in Canberra Hospital and is under police guard.Superintendent Ladd did not detail the crime scene nor Ms Uhle's injuries, and said a post-mortem would determine the cause of death.Superintendent Ladd said he didn't believe any other people were involved, and neither Ms Uhle nor Mr Uhle were previously known to police.
"At this stage the husband is obviously helping us with our enquiries and due to that familial relationship, we are treating this as a family violence incident," he said.Detective Acting Superintendent Stephen Ladd says the woman's husband has been arrested and is helping police with their enquiries."Incidents like this are tragic and my heartfelt sorrow goes out to the friends and family of this female," Superintendent Ladd said.
