Police investigating the attempted murder of DCI John Caldwell have seized an item of clothing during a search in Co Tyrone on Wednesday.

Officers took part in the search in the Loughmacrory Road area of Mountfield and have taken the item of clothing away for forensic examination. READ MORE: Arrest made after major cigarette seizure in Co Tyrone In a statement provided on Wednesday, a PSNI spokesperson said: “Detectives investigating the attempted murder of Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell on February 22nd in Omagh carried out a search within the vicinity of the Loughmacrory Road, Mountfield, County Tyrone earlier today, Wednesday May 3rd.The senior PSNI officer, who was shot by masked gunmen in Omagh in February, was released from hospital last month almost two months after the attack.
