It took about four hours for authorities to clear the area.
Police cleared the scene after a suspicious package was found Tuesday morning at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center in Adams County. An employee spotted the package outside the main entrance of the visitor center at 1195 Baltimore Pike in Cumberland Township around 7 a.m.The Pennsylvania State Police bomb squad responded, and fire police blocked off all entrances to the building. Shortly after 11 a.m., authorities gave the all clear.
Police did not say what the package was. News 8 learned it had writing on it, but authorities didn't reveal what it said or who the package was addressed to.The National Park Service said there are certain details it can't release right now because of the ongoing investigation.
