Police: Intruder arrested after breaking into sleeping woman's El Cajon apartment [Breaking]
A man broke into a sleeping woman’s apartment early Tuesday morning in El Cajon and, after rifling through her belongings, turned on the television and masturbated before falling asleep, police said.
Officers later arrested the 44-year-old man without incident after a relative of the woman, who police described as elderly without providing her age, spotted him on an indoor security camera and called 911, El Cajon police Lt. Walt Miller wrote in a news release. The incident happened around 5:15 a.m. at an apartment on East Lexington Avenue near South Magnolia Avenue, where the man entered through the unlocked front door, Miller wrote. While the woman slept, the man opened her bedroom door but did not go inside.
After searching her belongings, he went into the living room where he eventually fell asleep, Miller wrote. Officers arrested him on suspicion of burglary of an inhabited dwelling and incident exposure. According to police, the intruder was homeless and on parole, with prior arrests for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, home-invasion robbery and burglary. Jail records showed he was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of a parole violation along with the charges related to the home break-in.
