The Clyde-Savannah High School varsity football team's season was cancelled following an incident that led to several players being disciplined.
Clyde, N.Y. — Police said they are investigating an incident that was caught on camera and led to the cancellation of this week's Clyde-Savannah High School varsity football game. The incident happened Tuesday at the school. Superintendent Michael Hayden released a statement Thursday indicating the incident involved "several members" of the team resulted in "disciplinary actions." Police said they became aware Thursday of a recording of the incident.The team was undefeated and scheduled to host Marcus Whitman/Bloomfield in the semifinal round of the Wayne-Finger Lakes Independent Football League playoffs Friday night.
Police also said they are investigating an assault that happened in Clyde. They said the case is "of a sensitive nature" and didn't indicate whether it was connected to Tuesday's incident at the school. Anyone with information or video of Tuesday's incident is asked to call the Clyde Police Department at 923-3121 or 577-2266.
