Police in Charlotte, North Carolina, are searching for a suspect or suspects connected to a series of late-night shootings Tuesday that happened within 30 minutes and left one person dead and two others wounded. The shootings, which occurred between 1 a.m. and 1:30 a.m., appeared to be linked because they involved seemingly random shots fired from a vehicle at other vehicles or bicyclists, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Deputy Chief Tonya Arrington said during a Tuesday news conference.

Only minutes later, police responded to the intersection of Lasalle Street and Newland Road because a bicyclist was shot at but not injured, police said. A short time later, officers said a person’s vehicle was hit by gunfire while driving on Lasalle Street near I-77. And then, on the 2100 block of Catherine Simmons Drive, a group told police they were fired at. Officers then found a female victim who was inside a nearby home when she was struck by gunfire, police said.
