Salt Lake City police arrested a suspect a day after a fatal shooting in an industrial area of the city's Glendale neighborhood, police said.
Salt Lake City police on Wednesday, May 28, 2024, investigate a deadly shooting in an industrial area of the city's Glendale neighborhood. The victim was identified as Thomas Priest . The suspect, David Delance Chase , 59, was booked into jail the following day. According to police, Thomas Priest , 42, was fatally shot in the non-residential area Tuesday afternoon.
The two were there to pick up a trailer that belonged to Chase after Priest reportedly accused the woman of having an affair with Chase and threatened to burn the trailer down.The affidavit states Chase told dispatchers that "he just came rushing at me, like, just enraged" before he drew his gun and fired.
Chase remained on the phone with dispatchers and stayed at the scene while officers responded, according to court documents. Priest was found at the scene with a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts by paramedics and police, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
