Police responded to 24th and Campbell streets in Oakland Thursday morning after they received a report of a body found wrapped in a plastic garbage bag.
Police responded to the intersection of 24th and Campbell streets in Oakland on Thursday morning after they received a report around 8:15 a.m. of a body found wrapped in a plastic bag. Oakland police arrived and closed the streets around the West Oakland intersection. On the sidewalk curb street, video shows what appears to be a body wrapped in plastic and duct tape. The Oakland Police Department homicide investigators were called to the scene.
"This street is known for dumping, you know. They just cleaned it all out. And as soon as it gets clean, people come back and dump stuff. And they dump in the wee hours of the morning," Dave Callahan an Oakland resident said. KTVU contacted the Alameda County Coroner's office staff, who said there was not yet an identification to release and that an autopsy is being planned for Friday or Monday.
