The post was shared on the day the Scottish government's controversial hate crime laws came into effect.

A Scottish government minister's father remains under police investigation for posting an image of the Star of David linked with a swastika. Tom Arthur snr resigned from the SNP after the Facebook post was reported to Police Scotland in April, with the force initially investigating it as a 'communications offence'. The post was shared on the day the Scottish government's controversial Hate Crime and Public Order Act came into effect.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'Enquiries into a reported hate crime have concluded, however, no decision on the outcome of the investigation has been taken yet.' Mr Arthur snr is the father of Renfrewshire South MSP Tom Arthur, Holyrood's employment and investment minister. At the time, the politician condemned the views expressed and said his father's post fell 'far short' of his stance against discrimination.
