A San Diego police officer was killed and a second was seriously injured in a fiery crash following a pursuit in the Clairemont area of San Diego on Aug. 26. The driver of the car police had been chasing also died in the crash. ): Why in the world would a competent “protect and serve” police chief oppose reducing police chases? It’s understandable that such chases are exciting for officers, but they are clearly dangerous to all of us.
The public should not be sitting ducks as numerous police cars try to race to the chase, as occurred in the recent tragedy. And then it seems the police almost always claim they called off the chase before each accident, finally realizing the public is endangered. Crazy.
